Details
This Sangiovese brings notes of cranberry, pomegranate, sour cherry and ripe blackberry, with floral and gently spicy notes hovering in the background too. On the palate it’s silky and fresh, with good grip, lively acidity and that irresistible Corsican bitterness that keeps you coming back for more. It's light on its feet, big on personality, crunchy and super alive!
Cantina di Torra is Nicolas Mariotti Bindi’s love letter to Corsica - raw, honest, and buzzing with energy. Nicolas grew up on the island, left for Paris to study law, and then did what all great winemakers eventually do: made a dramatic U-turn and came home. After cutting his teeth in Beaujolais and working with legends like Antoine Arena, Muriel Giudicelli and Domaine Leccia, he released his first vintage in 2007. By 2015, he’d bought the Cantina di Torra winery itself, giving this fruit-driven line a home of its own right in Oletta, at the heart of Patrimonio. Today, Nicolas and his wife organically farm around fifteen hectares split across multiple parcels - each with different soils, exposures and vine ages. Clay, limestone, alluvial stones, north- and south-facing slopes - it’s a full Corsican mosaic. Everything is done parcel by parcel, harvested by hand, fermented with wild yeasts, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and with tiny doses of sulphur (clearly printed on the label). This isn’t about power or extraction - it’s about brightness, tension, and letting Niellucciu (aka Sangiovese) speak clearly and confidently.

Pairing guide
This wine loves food, especially anything with heat or edge. Try it with spicy merguez, harissa-rubbed lamb, or grilled vegetables with chilli and olive oil. It’s brilliant with tomato-based dishes, aubergine parmigiana, or a Corsican classic like veal with olives. For a vegan win, go for lentils with roasted peppers and fennel, or chickpea and aubergine stew with cumin and smoked paprika - the acidity and gentle bitterness are spot on.

Wine region
Corsica, France
Corsica, located in the Mediterranean Sea between France and Italy, is an up-and-coming wine region unique terrain. The island's granite and limestone soils, combined with its mountainous landscape and proximity to the sea, create a distinctive microclimate that allows for the production of wines with both freshness and great intricacy. The top wine styles from Corsica include crisp white wines made from Vermentino and red wines made from Nielluccio and Sciacarello grapes. The island is divided into nine wine-producing regions, with the most notable being Patrimonio, Ajaccio, and Figari. Look out for these wines!
