Details
This is giving big Barolo energy. Aromatically complex and quietly powerful, with red cherry, redcurrant, rose petals, dried flowers, blood orange, and earthy undertones. On the palate it’s full-bodied yet precise, with juicy red fruit up front, spice and savoury depth through the middle, and firm but well-balanced tannins carrying a long, persistent finish. It's fragrant, structured, and built for the long haul.

We’re heading straight into Barolo heartland now - Castiglione Falletto, where Nebbiolo grows up serious, structured, and built for the long game. The Monchiero family have been here for generations, quietly farming the estate before bottling even crossed their minds. In the 1950s, brothers Remo and Maggiorino made the call to stop just selling grapes and start making wine under their own name - and that’s when things really clicked. Their historic cellar (dating back to the 13th century, no big deal) became the home of a very clear philosophy: tradition first, always. That torch was carried forward by Vittorio Monchiero, trained at Alba’s renowned oenological institute and fiercely committed to the classic Barolo way. No flashy shortcuts here, we're talking long macerations, patient ageing, and time in large Slavonian oak casks to let Nebbiolo unfold slowly and honestly. Today, the next generation is stepping in, with sons Luca and Stefano joining the fold, ensuring this is very much a living, breathing family estate. The wines are unapologetically traditional: expressive of place, built to age, and made for people who love Barolo for what it really is.

Pairing guide
This wine wants serious food to match its big bold energy. Classic pairings would be braised beef or slow-cooked beef shin in Barolo, or even tajarin with butter and white truffle if you’re feeling iconic. For something a little different, try duck ragù with rosemary, or lamb shoulder cooked low and slow with anchovy and garlic. For the vegans, try mushroom and walnut ragù, lentils with porcini and thyme, or roasted celeriac with miso and herbs - all that umami magic plays beautifully with Nebbiolo’s tannins. Decant, take your time, and let this wine tell its story glass by glass.

Wine region
Piedmont, Italy
The Piedmont wine region in Italy is a magical place known for producing world-class wines. The region is bordered by the Alps to the north and the Apennine Mountains to the south, and it is characterized by rolling hills and a diverse landscape. The climate in Piedmont is generally cool and wet, with warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. This climate is well-suited to grape growing offering slow and steady ripening conditions which lead to high-quality and expressive wines. Piedmont is most praised for its red wines, particularly Barolo and Barbaresco, which are made from the Nebbiolo grape. Barbera and Dolcetto are other celebrated reds of the region, and as for its white wines, Arneis, Moscato d'Asti and the rare Nascetta. Piedmont is also famous for its flavorful truffles, often used in local dishes, and pair beautiful with its regional wines.
