This fabulous, hand-selected set of wines hail from different parts of southern France; from Gascony for the white and rosé, to the Rhône valley for the red. within these regions, there is so much quality and choice on offer. Matagot or the 'Money Cat', legend has it, is a creature that is said to have been in the service of a sorcerer or witch, bringing wealth to its master or mistress so long as it was well looked after. Other legends lean toward the Matagot being a fairy-like creature that brought good luck. Ooh, we do love a good Colombard wine here at Good Pair Days, and this beautiful white blend makes stunning use of the Colombard grapes grown at Matagot’s wonderful vineyards. We reckon this wine is best served alongside heartier fish dishes - think cod with miso, kingfish with Middle Eastern spices or a good monkfish curry - and it’s also going to be excellent with chicken satay or other aromatic Asian fare. Thai broths and noodle dishes, fresh oysters and seared scallops with prosciutto would also be highly recommended!
