Details
This wine displays all the classic notes and hallmarks of Moscato d'Asti... with the volume turned up a little. This is rich and heady, with lashings of 'grapey' character, elderflower and lychee hemmed in by an attractive note of sage and herbs. A sweet wine, this is the perfect after dinner sipper.

The Massolino family's history as winegrowers stretches back more than a century. A family-owned winery, from the wonderful UNESCO world heritage tapestry of vineyards in Italy's 'the Langhe'. The village of Serralunga d'Alba, was home to Giovanni Massolino in the late 19th century, when the estate was founded. Such a deep family heritage is richly intertwined with that of the whole region of 'Barolo'. With some of the most premium, priceless parcels of land, famous for Margheria, Parafada and the legendary vineyard Vigna Rionda, the wines are classic but inimitable. Massolino have a very distinct style that reflects their vineyards with a pure expression, especially that of Nebbiolo. A gift of nature. The family own 23 hectares of vines in Piedmont, and with Franco Massolino now at the winemaking helm, subtle, slightly more modern winemaking techniques are creeping into the winery. But don't worry, the team are firmly aware of their roots, and they produce arguably some of the finest cuvées in the region.

Pairing guide
It’s always a joy to discover a top-notch Moscato which possesses that perfect balance of giddy sweetness and acidic bite, and this beautiful bottle from Massolino ticks all the right boxes for us. It’s tempting to pair this wine up with berry-based desserts, but we’d argue it works best when matched with salty dishes which balance out that sweetness. Salt cod is an especially good choice, as are crab cakes, and appetisers of cheeses like feta. Deep-fried vegetables will work well, and olive-based appetisers and bacon brunch favourites will also provide great results.

Wine region
Piedmont, Italy
The Piedmont wine region in Italy is a magical place known for producing world-class wines. The region is bordered by the Alps to the north and the Apennine Mountains to the south, and it is characterized by rolling hills and a diverse landscape. The climate in Piedmont is generally cool and wet, with warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. This climate is well-suited to grape growing offering slow and steady ripening conditions which lead to high-quality and expressive wines. Piedmont is most praised for its red wines, particularly Barolo and Barbaresco, which are made from the Nebbiolo grape. Barbera and Dolcetto are other celebrated reds of the region, and as for its white wines, Arneis, Moscato d'Asti and the rare Nascetta. Piedmont is also famous for its flavorful truffles, often used in local dishes, and pair beautiful with its regional wines.
