Details
Another smash-hit from Franco here. The Lindi Carien is a bend of Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris naturally fermented in old oak barrel and clay pots. A quite gorgeous and beguiling wine with notes of toasted peach, grilled nuts and a slither of salty vanilla. This is a wine with elegance, class and restraint, a textural delight with a beautiful line of acidity and freshness with a finish for days. A must try for any white wine lover.
South Africa's new wave of exciting winemakers continues here with the exceptional wines of Franco Lourens. In the cellars of legendary winemaker Chris Alheit, assistant winemaker Franco has been busy crafting his own impressive range of detailed wines that have fast been gaining a reputation as some of the most exciting in South Africa. He has a focus, of course on Chenin Blanc, and Mediterranean grapes and blends with an approach to winemaking that crafts red and white's of quite brilliant complexity and tension. Franco is a lover of Rhône varieties (Syrah, Grenache (Blanc), Cinsault, Roussanne et al), which tend to do particularly well in this part of the world. The future is bright for Franco, already his wines show a level of maturity and class far beyond what you might expect from such a young producer. Stints in California and Western Australia's Margaret River have helped to shape Louren's into what we reckon is already clearly, quite an accomplished winemaker.

Pairing guide
It’s been great to see the Chenin Blanc revival that’s been underway for the past few years, and this racy number from Lourens Family Wines is all the proof you need that this classic wine style is back with a vengeance. We love pairing Chenin Blanc with dishes that have a sweet ‘n’ sour element - from your classic Cantonese takeaway favourites to meats served with fruity sauces, and many more besides. Richer seafood dishes - such as lobster tagliatelle or crab cakes - will work well here, and you’ll get great results from creamy pork dishes, lemon chicken, and salads like a Caesar or Niçoise, too.
