Details
L'Escarpolette is an ode to the old French comics where cruising around in a Citroën 2CV with a baguette hanging out the window would fit right in. The rosé is a nice blend of Tempranillo and Grenache with all the needs met for a pretty-in-pink wine that sits nicely beside a plate of ham and a swimming pool. Aside from going down quickly, this wine has lovely summer berry tones balanced with a touch of creamy texture.

Origin: The spiritual home of rosé is Provence, in Southern France. Mainly Grown In: Rosé is found all over the world these days, but coastal regions are especially well suited to the growing of red grapes for rosé. Key Facts: Rosé is predominantly made from red grape varieties. The colour in wine is actually from pigments found in the skins of the grapes, so even red grapes have clear-coloured juice. The colour is then ‘bled’ out of the skins by infusing the skins into the juice. So for rosé, the wine simply spends far less time hanging out with the skins! Rarely you will find a rosé that is a combo of white and red grapes – they’re not ‘less good’, just less common. Rosé is super versatile – it suits any occasion. Best to always have a bottle in the fridge, just in case, you know… Wednesday happens or something. Fun Fact: Other words with an é in them: Beyoncé, Pokémon, Crème brûlée. Yep - rosé is in good company.

Pairing guide
With its beautiful delicate hue and soft summer fruit flavours, this delicious rosé is a real winner when it comes to food pairing versatility and charm. It’s a great choice for poached salmon or grilled tuna steaks with salsa verde, wonderful with chicken breast cooked with prosciutto and cherry tomatoes, and fabulous with seafood like garlic prawns or scallops with black pudding. Tomato-based pasta sauces, medium-spiced Indian curries and salty ingredients like green olives, feta and anchovies will also match very well indeed.
