Details
Lime peel and subtle crunchy red fruit immediately leap from the glass in Le Grand Cros' flagship wine. Delicate and light on its feet, this wine is undeniably Provence in character, with saline notes in the mouth, lively, bracing acidity and mouthcoating texture. Hard to go wrong with this one!
In wine terms, the Faulkner family is relatively new to the game and has been producing grape juice since 1989. However, their achievements and success at Le Grand Cros are nothing to be sniffed at. The family hit the ground running after acquiring the estate in the late 1980s and in their first year picked up gold medals galore for their wines - not bad for a team with humble ambitions for winemaking. The estate can be found in the Massif des Maures hillsides, an idyllic, provincial part of the region with all of the pizazz and romance one would associate with this part of the world. Their lands cover around 24 hectares of vineyards and in 2020 under the watchful eye of Julian Faulkner, they achieved HVE status, which denotes a company or producer of high environmental value. The wines from Le Grand Cros are nothing short of fabulous and this was vindicated in 2015 by the world-famous Decanter wine magazine which crowned their 2014 rosé the best rosé in the world.

Pairing guide
This beautiful blushing wine from Le Grand Cros brings mountains of character to the table, exuding stunning notes of soft and red berry fruits. We especially enjoyed this wine with dishes that bring together salty and sweet notes - such as prosciutto with dates and goat’s cheese with honey - but it’s going to work very well with all kinds of fried vegetables, fritters, fish and seafood, chicken breast dishes and Asian fare such as katsu curry and chicken satay. It’s also not half bad with desserts made with plenty of fruits and nuts, or anything featuring mango, papaya and pineapple.

Wine region

Provence, France
Provence is a wine region in southeastern France best known for its delicious rosé wines and beautiful beaches. It's also home to a number of protected wine appellations, such as the Côtes de Provence AOC and the Bandol AOC, which produce some of the best rosé wines in the world. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, this region has a warm and sunny climate, with long, hot summers and mild, wet winters. The landscape is filled with rolling hills, and picturesque villages on a gorgeous coastline, making it a holiday hub for many - sand in your toes, and rosé on the beach, anyone? But if rosé isn't your thing, the region also produces white and red wines, predominantly made from a variety of grape varieties, including Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a fun and relaxing vacation, Provence has something for everyone.
