Bodegas Murviedro is a Valencian powerhouse blending tradition with modern winemaking. Founded in 1927 as the Spanish arm of Switzerland’s Schenk Group, the winery has spent nearly a century crafting wines that showcase the rich terroir of southeast Spain. Based in Requena, Murviedro focuses on indigenous grape varieties like Bobal, Monastrell, and Merseguera, producing everything from vibrant young wines to complex, oak-aged expressions. Sustainability is a key pillar of their philosophy, with a strong emphasis on organic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking. The winery’s diverse portfolio includes still wines, sparkling Cavas, and even experimental low-intervention cuvées, appealing to both traditionalists and modern wine lovers. Murviedro is also a champion of Valencia’s winemaking heritage, restoring historic cellars and highlighting the region’s unique microclimates. Their wines offer a perfect balance of freshness, structure, and Mediterranean charm. Whether it’s a bold Bobal with deep, dark fruit or a crisp, floral Moscatel, Bodegas Murviedro continues to push Spanish wine forward while honouring its past.

Pairing guide
When it comes to picnics, summer lunches with friends, or just relaxing in the afternoons and balmy evenings, you just can’t beat a great bottle of rosé. This blushing wine from the brilliantly-named Las Falleras ticks all the right boxes for us - it’s superbly food-friendly, and has exactly the right balance of fruit and acidity to make it pair perfectly with some of our favourite dishes. It’s always going to be great with classic salads, especially a good Nicoise, as well as simple pasta and rice dishes, and all your picnic classics. However, we also love this wine with Thai flavours, fiery Indian curries, rare duck breast, and salty cheeses like feta.
