Details
A classic Bordeaux-style blend here of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec and 10% Cabernet Franc. This is sensational; with outstanding integration between each of the grape varieties, and the oak - par for the course with Estela's wines. Soft, silky and pillowy in the mouth, purple florals and dense dark fruits scream across the nose and palate.
If you haven't heard of Estela Perinetti, then keep an ear to the ground. This is one of the best winemakers in Argentina that you haven't heard of who has finally released her own range of wines under the 'Las Estelas' banner. Perinetti's CV is impressive, to say the least; she was the head winemaker at Bodegas Caro - a joint venture between the infamous Bodega Catena Zapata and Bordeaux's Château Lafite Rothschild. Estela is one of the original female winemakers in Argentina, a country that now has much better representation in the winemaking scene across genders. In the 1940s Estela Perinetti’s grandfather purchased Mangato vineyard, 64 acres of land which was renamed to Finca Mangato, and now forms the basket of fruit that Estela draws from to craft her exceptional range of wines. Perhaps it is her experience working with the Bordelais, but Estela's portfolio is a masterstroke in blending and it is actually quite difficult to pick out each individual grape variety, instead, these are '1+1=3' wines, and the sum is always greater than the parts. Estela's wines are new to us here at GPD and in the UK, we are very excited and delighted to welcome them into the fold!

Pairing guide
Rich, powerful and more than a little decadent, this beautiful Cabernet blend from Las Estelas deserves to be paired with the kind of hearty, rustic fare the south of France or the Iberian peninsula does so well. Coq au vin, bourguignon, glossy beef or lamb stews and slow-cooked Mediterranean vegetables will really hit the spot here, especially those featuring plenty of garlic and aromatic herbs. Polenta dishes, braised kale, wild mushrooms and truffle will be especially welcome, as will any recipe calling for pungent blue cheeses - yum!

Wine region

Uco Valley, Argentina
The Uco Valley is arguably home to some of Argentina's finest wine producers. This sub-region is part of the wider region of Mendoza, the premier wine-growing region in the country. Uco is slightly more unique that the rest of the region due to its higher-altitude vineyards. This often leads to wine styles with a little more balance and restraint, and they often come in with more florality than their lower-altitude counterparts. The region has seen significant investment over the years, and some of the world's household wine names now own vineyards in these parts.
