Details
Ventoux is a classic Rhône region known for underrated Grenache blends and a steep mountain that is considered one of the pinnacle stages of the Tour de France. This Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault blend may have a light colour but it sure packs a punch. There is a punnet of berries in this wine with blueberries and raspberries along with plenty of pepper.

The French wine scene can be somewhat of a minefield at times, all we really want is a supplier that makes wines from all across the country while still displaying regional and sub-regional typicity.. Simple right?!? Well, enter Maison Johanès Boubée which is a winery that has succeeded in the French landscape, while relatively unknown outside its borders. The winery has access to all the goodies around the country and aside from an impressive winemaking team, it also has employed sommeliers to taste each wine to confirm it meets that all important terroir feel of each region. The winery is a nod to the old-school way, where you didn’t need to boast a fancy label to sell a bottle of wine and the juice inside is the most important part. We have tasted through a large range of their wines and are very impressed with the overall quality in each bottle. The La Cave D'Augustin Florent range represents the focus on single regions, whether it be Cahors, Burgundy, Jurançon or Minervois, there will be something for everyone.

Pairing guide
A good Grenache blend is a tough one to beat, and this stunning red wine from La Cave D'Augustin Florent once again proves that this winery doesn’t shy from making a massive impact on the palate. We loved this wine with lamb steaks, but any lamb dish with garlic, tomatoes, cheese or black olives will really deliver the goods when it comes to food pairing perfection. Simple steak dishes, stuffed mushrooms with blue cheese, ratatouille, cassoulet, bolognese and other ragu dishes (including veggie alternatives) are also highly recommended here.
