Details
Well, here we are in the world of South-West France where aside from Bordeaux, there are regions like Cahors that prioritised Malbec before it was cool. This Malbec has plenty of spice with liquorice and vanilla at the forefront as well as some red plums.
The French wine scene can be somewhat of a minefield at times, all we really want is a supplier that makes wines from all across the country while still displaying regional and sub-regional typicity.. Simple right?!? Well, enter Maison Johanès Boubée which is a winery that has succeeded in the French landscape, while relatively unknown outside its borders. The winery has access to all the goodies around the country and aside from an impressive winemaking team, it also has employed sommeliers to taste each wine to confirm it meets that all important terroir feel of each region. The winery is a nod to the old-school way, where you didn’t need to boast a fancy label to sell a bottle of wine and the juice inside is the most important part. We have tasted through a large range of their wines and are very impressed with the overall quality in each bottle. The La Cave D'Augustin Florent range represents the focus on single regions, whether it be Cahors, Burgundy, Jurançon or Minervois, there will be something for everyone.

Wine region

Cahors, France
Whilst Malbec may have found its new world home in Argentina, it is essential not to forget its roots. Once a mainstay in Bordeaux (where it is still used), MAlbec's spiritual home in France is Cahors in the country's southwest. This region is complete with gastronomic flair and rich, dense, deeply coloured red wines. There is a range of complex soils in Cahors, and increasing investment and a younger wave of exciting winemakers have seen the wine styles in this part of the world become more and more modern over the years. So if you fancy spreading your Malbec wings, Cahors is a must-try for you!
