Details
There are few things more satisfying than Encruzado, from Dão, with a bit of age... and this is why. Vivid yellow fruits thrust themselves to the fore, with candied lemon high notes. This wine presents a slightly, welcome creamy character, that complements the flavours of bitter lemon and sage. Complex and delicious.

Portugal's Dão wine region can be found just south of its greatest regional asset: the Douro Valley. For those in the know, well, they know that Dão is arguably one of the nation's best-kept secrets; home to slightly softer, dare we say more rustic expressions of Touriga Nacional in particular, as well as being the home of one of Portugal's greatest white wine grapes: Encruzado. Juliana Kelman started producing wines a decade ago. Her grandparents migrated to Portugal from Brazil in the 1940s and since she was able to taste, Juliana has made it her life's mission to craft honest expression of the region's most prized varietals. She has gone on to pick up plenty of awards for her stunning range and is fast gaining a reputation overseas as a very high-quality winemaker. Vineyards were planted at the turn of the millennium, claiming around a modest six hectares of area under vine. These are terroir-driven wines that excite and delight anybody who gets stuck into them.

Pairing guide
A good Encruzado wine is a thing of real beauty - a veritable hidden gem, once tried, never forgotten. This stunning bottle is no exception, and we loved seeking out gorgeous food pairing options for you to discover. We reckon it’s a top match for marinated pork chops served with rosemary fries, vegetarian risotto with autumnal veggies like squash and sweet potato, and especially with classic fish soups and stews like bouillabaisse and seafood chowder. Cod goujons, barbecued oysters and robust salads with chickpeas and fresh herbs will also hit the spot.

Wine region
Dão, Portugal
The Dão wine region in Portugal is a wine lover's dream come true. With its unique terroir of granite soils and cool, humid climate, the wines produced here have a distinct mineral character that will tantalize your taste buds. The region, immediately south of the Douro wine region, is particularly famous for its red wines made from the Touriga Nacional grape variety, which are known for their intense flavour and high tannins. You'll find many small, family-run wineries in the area, where you can taste a variety of wines and learn about the winemaking process from the locals. The Dão wine region is also an important part of Portugal's cultural heritage, many of the wineries have a long history dating back to the 19th century. The region is becoming increasingly popular among wine enthusiasts, and it's a must-visit destination for anyone interested in discovering the diversity of Portuguese wines.
