Details
Oh boy, this is classic Rioja here folks. In fact, as the 'Crianza' style goes, this is actually a rather grown-up iteration. Up top, we have notes of raspberry and dark berry fruits. Expect a lick of sweetness from 14 months of ageing in American oak, with beautifully integrated notes of black olive and a savoury herbal character. Fabulous and drinking beautifully right now.
CEO and Founder José Félix Arriezu conceived his eponymous winery as recently as 2013 following a number of winemaking stints around the world. The family focuses exclusively on producing quality organic wines from their vineyards that span both Rueda and Rioja. Between these two famous regions, J.F. Arriezu command over 160 hectares of vineyards and all of its wines are certified vegan. José Félix's passion and inspiration come from spending time with his grandparents in his youth in San Adrián, a small township located on the banks of the famous Ebro River that sits between the Rioja and Navarra wine regions. J.F. Arriezu's wines are characterised by their youthful vibrancy and freshness. When we tasted them for the first time, it was that purity and concentration of fruit that set them apart from the crowd; this is a trait that is reflected through their mantra to "respect and protect" their grapes as much as possible both in the vineyard and through the winemaking process.

Pairing guide
A beautiful complex red wine, this sunny Rioja from J.F. Arriezu is going to be a joy to drink alongside summery dishes featuring sundried tomatoes, red peppers, hunks of ham and all kinds of charcuterie. Pork belly dishes, pork chops with fresh herbs, caponata and pasta salads are all popular pairing options, and it’s also great with chicken or pork risotto, bacon dishes and meatier fish like tuna or swordfish. Fantastic!

Wine region

Rioja, Spain
Rioja (riˈouhɑ) is one of Spain’s most well-known wine regions, located in the north of Spain. The region has a long history of making wine that dates back to the period of the Roman Empire. The climate is typically Mediterranean with hot summers and cool winters which suits the varieties of Rioja; Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano. Graciano almost became extinct due to the effects of phylloxera in the late 1800s however, luckily, the variety is back in full swing. There are three main classifications of wine according to their ageing process- Crianza, Reserve and Gran Reserva.
