Details
This is Gamay with serious shoulders. Opening with juicy pomegranate, raspberry, cherry, blackberry, and strawberry, it's lifted by florals - violet, rose petal, hibiscus, with kirsch, and a subtle earthy, pink peppercorn note. On the palate it’s fleshy and structured, with fresh acidity, fine but firm tannins, and a savoury depth. There’s plenty of juicy fruit, but also grip, spice, and elegance - an absolute winner of a wine!

Aujoux is one of those producers that just gets Beaujolais. They’ve been around long enough to know the region inside out, but they’ve kept this youthful, curious energy that makes their wines feel genuinely alive. Think of them as the reliable friend who always shows up with a great bottle and an even better story. With modern cellars, a sharp winemaking team, and an eye for detail, they manage to make wines that feel polished without ever losing that joyful Beaujolais bounce. And where they’re based? Pretty dreamy. La Chapelle-de-Guinchay sits right in the middle of Beaujolais’ greatest hits - Saint-Amour, Juliénas, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent - basically a playlist of top vineyards. Aujoux works with growers across the region and beyond, creating wines that genuinely reflect where they come from: bright fruit, floral lift, a little spice, a lot of charm. They’re all about capturing that sense of place and bottling it with style, which is why their wines are so easy to love, and even easier to recommend!

Pairing guide
This Gamay loves food, and not just the light stuff. Go for roast duck with cherries, herb-crusted pork loin, or grilled lamb cutlets with rosemary. It’s brilliant with game birds, coq au vin, or a rich mushroom and thyme lasagne. For a cracking vegan option, try lentil and mushroom bourguignon, roasted beetroot with smoked salt and walnuts, or a spicy aubergine, tomato, and olive bake - the wine’s acidity and savoury edge cut straight through and keep everything beautifully balanced.

Wine region
Beaujolais, France
Beaujolais is the land of fruity, easy-drinking reds! This wine region in France is known for its light-bodied, juicy Gamay wines that taste of cherries, red berries, and sometimes even bubblegum. With ten different Beaujolais crus to choose from, there's a wine for every taste. But the real party happens when Beaujolais Nouveau is released each November. This wine is made from freshly harvested grapes and is ready to drink just a few weeks later. So grab a bottle (or two) and let the celebrations begin! However, Beaujolais is also a hotbed for the natural wine movement and some of the industry's most pioneering names have come from this region and produce some exciting, complex wines.
