Made from the Gamay grape variety, Allion's Chant de Lune rosé displays rich and attractive notes of peach, hay and wild green strawberry. Expect lively notes of citrus and red berries on the palate with a wonderful florality. This is zippy and tart with bags of energy and freshness.
There are some parts of the world where it seems it’s almost impossible to make wine badly. One which immediately springs to mind is France’s Loire Valley, where you’d be hard-pushed to find a bottle which doesn’t scratch an itch when it comes to everything from hearty, juicy table wines to seriously refined, well-aged complex numbers packed full of fascinating features. It’s here we find the winery of Guy Allion, run by the eponymous winemaker who claims he’s carrying on the traditions of his region and doing his utmost to get the essence of the Touraine sub-region in a bottle for everyone to enjoy and experience. Guy Allion has worked tirelessly to grow and expand his family winery - originally a farm used for more or less everything except winemaking - which, over the past forty years, has gone from six hectares to twenty-seven. He’s joined today by his son, Cedric, who was keen to inject a bit of modernity into an otherwise very traditional operation when he stepped up in 1999. Guy Allion is all about careful, minimalistic viticulture, keeping intervention low and expression high. It’s clearly been a successful philosophy to follow - this is a winery which continues to impress year after year, and grow from strength to strength.

Pairing guide
Few wine regions of the world are spoken about with such hushed reverence as France’s Loire Valley. This beautiful bottle of rosé from Guy Allion goes some way towards explaining why - it’s utterly delicious, and ideal for food-pairing. This wine will pair perfectly with light dishes made from olives or anchovies, and is gorgeous with crab, tuna, salmon, and barbecued prawns, too. Turkey works beautifully here, as do Greek dishes of lamb or chicken slow-roasted with lemon and herbs.
