Details
Well this is a ripe number. This is a great example of what Zinfandel from this part of the world is capable of producing. Dark fruit, cassis and ripe red berries combine with an espresso shot of coffee. If you like your reds on the slightly sweeter side of the spectrum, then this will be right up your street!

It's hard not to be totally in love with Zinfandel for so many reasons. If you are a Malbec lover, or in the market for rich, dense wines then you can't go too far wrong with Zin from California. These wines often display coffee and dried fruit notes and always pack a punch. 'White Zinfandel' is another style that has grown hugely in popularity over the years; offering wine drinkers a slightly sweeter, off-dry rosé wine experience. After years of back and forth and arguing, a scientific study was finally carried out by the team at U.C. Davis in America, who determined that Zinfandel is identical to Italy's Primitivo, a famous red grape coming out of Puglia in the southern part of the country. However, that is not where professionals believe the grape hails from, instead, it is thought that it made its way to Italy from Croatia, before finding a new world home in California. Whatever the weather (or region), you can be sure that Zinfandel is going to be a favourite around the dining table for anyone who enjoys a rich, heady, full-bodied wine.

Pairing guide
Everyone loves a great bottle of Zinfandel, and this beauty from the Giant winery is sure to make a big impact. As for food pairing, this wine is best suited to char grilled meats, racks of ribs, and homemade beef kebabs - basically, anything you’d whack on a barbecue if the weather was in your favour. Homemade beef and veggie burgers will work well here, and rich and salty cheeses are always a winner!

Wine region
California, United States
California is a large wine region is located in the United States, known for producing some of the world's most popular and highly-regarded wines. Naturally, the region is located in the state of California, which has a Mediterranean-like climate well-suited to grape growing. The wine-growing area stretches from north to south, with the Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Central Coast being some of the most well-known sub-regions. The first winery in the region was established by Spanish missionaries in 1779, and the wine produced there was used for religious purposes. California is known for producing a wide range of wines, including world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Some of the most notable wineries in the region include Napa Valley's Robert Mondavi Winery, Stag's Leap, Sonoma Valley's Jordan Vineyard & Winery and the infamous Ridge Vineyards to the south.
