Details
This is a very interesting, intriguing sparkling red wine. There is so much rustic Italian charm to love here, with bright notes of red and black cherry and a touch of fresh leather complexity. Being a fizzy red, there is also bags of structure that make this a great food wine. The tannins are balanced out by those crisp, refreshing bubbles and acidity. This is a wine with a lot of personality.

Giacobazzi is a modern outfit that you will find in the Emilia-Romagna region of central Italy. This is a region that is widely considered by many to be 'the stomach of Italy', with the infamous Balsamic vinegar, Parmigiano cheese and Parma ham all calling it home. With this in mind, it makes sense that the region's buzzing wine scene should keep up with the food one, and the Giobabazzi family have been plying their trade in Emilia-Romagna and beyond since the late 1990s. Famous for producing Lambrusco wines across a range of styles - not only from dry to sweet but also covering rosé and whites too - Giacobazzi renovated their ancient winery and kitted it out with a purpose-built interior so that the team could effectively deliver on both the quality and quantity of their output. Over the decades ownership of Giacobazzi changed hands several times until 2014 when the estate was bought back by Antonio Giacobazzi. This marked the return of the estate to a Giacobazzi family member after a hiatus for a decade or so. Cool fact: The Giacobazzi's have strong links to local sports teams, they are proud to be the shirt sponsor of the local football team: F.C. Modena.

Wine region
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Emilia-Romagna has to be one of the most important food regions in the world as the home of Parmigiano Reggiano and Balsamic Vinegar as well as Ragu or as we know it Spaghetti Bolognese. Aside from the amazing food, there is also some really decent wine to go with it! Known for producing delicious red wines like Lambrusco and Pignoletto as well as Sangiovese as well as white wines like Albana, this region has a unique climate that allows grapes to ripen perfectly. So when you next head to Bologna, make sure you enjoy all of the local produce!
