Details
This Verdeca blend is giving ripe lemon, yellow grapefruit and apple, with hints of mango and golden kiwi in the background. It's got floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine adding lift, while a gentle stony edge keeps everything crisp and dry. Fresh acidity, light body and just a whisper of honey on the finish make this a seriously moreish glass of vino!
Origin: Italy. Mainly Grown In: Southern Italy, particularly in Puglia, where it thrives in warm, sun-soaked conditions close to the Adriatic. Key Facts: Verdeca is one of Puglia’s best-kept secrets. Traditionally used in blends, it’s increasingly stepping into the spotlight on its own, and for good reason. Naturally high in acidity, Verdeca keeps its cool even in hot climates, producing wines that are fresh, zesty and surprisingly refined. Expect flavours of citrus peel, green apple and white flowers, often with a subtle herbal edge and a gently saline, mineral finish. It’s light on its feet, quietly complex, and wonderfully food-friendly, it's proof that southern Italy does crisp just as well as sunshine. Fun Fact: Verdeca gets its name from verde (green), a nod to how beautifully fresh and vibrant it stays, even under the blazing Puglian sun. Cool grape, hot climate!

Pairing guide
This Verdeca’s bright acidity and ripe citrus profile make it a brilliant food wine, especially with lighter, Mediterranean-style dishes. Think grilled vegetables with lemon and olive oil, courgette fritters, or a simple pasta with herbs and toasted breadcrumbs. For a great vegan pairing, try lemony chickpea and artichoke pasta: sauté garlic and chilli in olive oil, add chickpeas, artichokes and a splash of pasta water, then finish with lemon zest, juice and plenty of fresh parsley. The wine’s yellow apple and grapefruit notes lift the dish, while its subtle floral and mineral edge keeps everything fresh and balanced from first bite to last sip.

Wine region

Puglia, Italy
Puglia is a wine region in the "heel" of Italy that is known for its red, white, and rosé wines. The full-bodied red wines are often made with Negroamaro and Primitivo grapes, while the whites are usually made with Verdeca and Fiano grapes. Puglia has a hot, sunny climate which helps the grapes ripen fully and gives the wines a rich flavour. The region is also home to some unique grape varieties, like Nero di Troia and Bombino Nero. So, if you're a fan of Italian wine, definitely give Puglia a try! Historically Puglia has been better known for its quantity of wine over its quality. But thanks to a number of quality-focused producers, the region is turning that narrative around.
