Details
We love Gamay from this part of the world. It's cooler than Beaujolais and more angular; a different proposition altogether. We love the notes of freshly cracked black pepper and sour cherry. Taut and vivid, this is a pretty smashable number, whilst being seriously elegant at the same time.

Florent Thinon, a passionate winemaker in the Côte Roannaise of the Loire Valley, brings the region’s unique terroir to life in each bottle. Côte Roannaise, though lesser-known, is a hidden gem nestled in the eastern Loire, distinguished by its granite-rich soils and high elevation, ideal for producing vibrant, expressive wines. Florent leans into these natural advantages, focusing primarily on Gamay Saint-Romain, the region’s signature grape variety, which flourishes in his hands. With a sustainable approach to viticulture, Florent nurtures his vines to achieve balance and authenticity, letting the granite’s minerality and the cool Loire climate come through. His minimalist style in the cellar preserves the varietal’s purity, capturing bright red fruit flavours, subtle earthiness, and lively acidity. Each vintage showcases a genuine taste of Côte Roannaise, packed with freshness and an energetic character that’s hard to resist. Florent’s wines have gained a reputation for their nuanced complexity, offering a true sense of place with every pour.

Pairing guide
Few red wine styles exude a sense of old-school French glamour quite like Gamay. This wine effortlessly packs in the taste of Parisian street cafes and bistros, and of long lunch breaks spent with a bottle and something delicious to eat. If you’re on the lookout for vegetarian pairings for this bottle, you can’t go wrong with a platter of ripe French cheeses like camembert and brie, yet it’s also a great match for dishes featuring sweet potato, squash, and pumpkin, and will work well with tapas dishes featuring black olives and mushrooms, too.
