Details
Arinarnoa is a crossing between Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat - so expect this to be a well-structured wine. This is delicious, showing off alluring notes of black cherry and black forest gateau, overlapping with coffee, milk chocolate and sweet spice. This is tannic, restrained, and has a lovely old-world rusticity and elegance.

As the name suggests, Familia Bresesti is of Italian descent and the bodega was founded in the mid-1900s. Now control of the estate has passed down to the fourth-generation steward, Bruno Bresesti. You will find the winery on the outskirts of the nation's capital of Montevideo and it is fitted out with over a dozen underground, cement tanks for fermentation. The family's vineyards are in an area called Las Violetas, which surely must have been named after the wines that are produced here, often taking on a delicately floral, violet aromatic quality. The team strike a good balance of traditional winemaking, working with Tannat - the national grape of Uruguay (although originally from France), Sauvignon Blanc and Ugni Blanc. However Bruno and co are keen to push boundaries and as such, have crafted an impressive orange wine, as well as a brilliant Arinarnoa, which has very much found its new world home in South America, following early plantings in Bordeaux.
