Details
This is quite brilliant Pinot Grigio boasting ripe, peachy-nectarine notes with a rich, golden character. The palate is layered with both texture and flavour that combine with an attractive, wet rock minerality and finishes with lovely savoury bitterness. This wine is proof again that Pinot Grigio is awesome when it is in the right hands.

The winery at Collavini is set in an old, 14th century residence deep in the heartland of Friuli in northeastern Italy, close to the Slovenian boarder. This part of Italy is slowly gaining a reputation for reinventing what has sadly, over the decades, become a go-to region for bulk, entry styles of wine often made from Pinot Grigio. At Collovini, they are working hard to change that narrative, with a strong focus on innovation and modern winemaking techniques, combined with the history and tradition of the region. They are at the forefront of this resurgence. They make a range of wine from estate grown fruit; from Chardonnay, to Sauvignon Blanc, Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Ribolla Gialla, the latter is an often misunderstood variety capable of producing excellent wines. They also produce a core range of red, pink and sparkling wines, making Eugenio Collavini a one stop shop for high quality wine in Friuli.

Wine region
Friuli, Italy
Friuli is a wine region located in the northeastern part of Italy, near the border with Slovenia. The region is known for producing a variety of wine styles, including white, red, and sparkling wines. The white wines of Friuli are often made from grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, and are known for their crisp, aromatic character. Friuli is also home to a number of indigenous grape varieties, such as Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, which are used to produce distinctive white wines. The red wines of Friuli are typically made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Refosco, and are known for their elegance and finesse. Friuli has a unique climate, with cool nights and warm days, which helps to preserve the acidity in the grapes and produces wines with a refreshing character.
