Details
This is a modern, fruit-forward blend of 95% Garnacha Tinta (red) and 5% Garnacha Blanca (white) grapes. Low extraction with a funky attitude, expect bright, intense notes of strawberry laces, earthy mulch and forest floor. Elegant and restrained, this is a wine that starts to show a meatier side to it after some time in the decanter - if you can hold off that long!
'El Garbi' is a fantastic little micro-project coming out of Spain's Terra Alta region in the region's northeast. El Garbi is the name for the Arab wind that blows through the vineyard and plays a vital role in moderating temperature and ventilating the vines through the oftentimes very hot growing season. The project is the brainchild of our good friend Liam Steevenson, a UK-based Master of Wine who has made quite the habit of kicking off cool, fun, vinous projects around the world, and this is his Spanish soirée. The focus here is Garnacha (Grenache) red and white (or Tinta and Blanca), with the red made in a deliciously drinkable low-extraction style, whilst the white is brimming with texture, toast and spice. These are progressive wines, well worth a look for anybody who likes to flirt with the idea of natural wine and minimal intervention.

Pairing guide
If you’re anything like us, you won’t be able to stop yourselves from getting excited every time a new bottle of Garnacha comes your way. This signature red wine grape never fails to produce spectacularly delicious and versatile results, and this release from El Garbi is no exception. When it comes to food pairing, we love this wine with stewed and slow-cooked red meats; any kind of lamb or beef casserole will hit the spot perfectly. Sunday roasts with all the trimmings, sausages with a red wine or onion gravy, and aubergine parmigiana and caponata dishes will also provide superb pairing options to explore.
