Details
We have a total crush on this stunner from Spain. Garnacha Blanca grapes from high-altitude sites in the ever-exciting Terra Alta wine region create this delicious number. With notes of white peach, white florals and spice rounded off by a lovely honeyed, brioche accent, this is a complete wine made in a low-intervention manner. Great with food.
'El Garbi' is a fantastic little micro-project coming out of Spain's Terra Alta region in the region's northeast. El Garbi is the name for the Arab wind that blows through the vineyard and plays a vital role in moderating temperature and ventilating the vines through the oftentimes very hot growing season. The project is the brainchild of our good friend Liam Steevenson, a UK-based Master of Wine who has made quite the habit of kicking off cool, fun, vinous projects around the world, and this is his Spanish soirée. The focus here is Garnacha (Grenache) red and white (or Tinta and Blanca), with the red made in a deliciously drinkable low-extraction style, whilst the white is brimming with texture, toast and spice. These are progressive wines, well worth a look for anybody who likes to flirt with the idea of natural wine and minimal intervention.

Pairing guide
Grenache Blanc is right up there with our all-time favourite white wine styles, not least because it has the perfect amount of freshness and balance to pair with some seriously delicious dishes and ingredients. We’re always fond of pairing this wine with Chinese-inspired fish and seafood dishes - salt and pepper squid, garlic and ginger prawns, and Sichuan sea bass, especially. It’s also excellent with green vegetable dishes, chicken risotto, pork chops with apple, green salads and chicken, fish and veggie tacos. Nice!
