Details
We are a little bit in love with this number. An organic Syrah that just oozes personality. On the nose it is ripe and alive with fresh blackcurrant and blueberry that sit alongside a faint herbal, almost seaweed character. Bundles of freshness in the mouth makes this Syrah an utter pleasure to drink. Textural, this is a wine that punches well above its weight.

Origin: The first recognised wines were made in the Rhône Valley and south-eastern France. Mainly Grown In: One of the world’s leading grapes, it is found in France, Australia, the USA, Argentina and South Africa. Key Facts: Shiraz (or Syrah) is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France, it has spread to all corners of the world, and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Wines made and labelled as 'Shiraz' are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. European, or cooler climate expressions are often labelled as and referred to as 'Syrah', these can be more savoury and tend towards flavours of olive, black cherry and pepper. Both are equally delicious, and are simply a matter of taste! Fun Fact: There’s a small town in Iran called Shiraz, where to some people the grape may have originally been grown as an eating grape!

Pairing guide
With its bold fruit flavours and delicious savoury undertones, this Syrah is a real winner when it comes to food pairing. It’s going to be fantastic with chargrilled red meats, especially lamb chops and leaner cuts of beef, and every bit as good with roasted Mediterranean vegetables, stuffed peppers, and griddled courgettes. This red has a particular affinity for aromatic herbs; so be sure to be liberal with the rosemary, sage, and parsley, and get creative with your Greek lamb specialties, ratatouille dishes, and roast chicken dinners!

Wine region
Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
La Mancha is a wine region in Spain known for its hot and dry climate, high altitude vineyards, and significant grape production the top sub-regions are Almansa, Jumilla, and Manchuela, each with its own unique wine styles. The terroir across these regions can be characterized by the high chalk content of its soil, which helps to retain moisture during the arid summers. The top wine styles produced in La Mancha are primarily red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, including the well-known Crianza and the top tier Reserva styles, as well as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. However, the region also produces some white wines made from the fruity Airen grape, which is a native varietal of La Mancha and one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world.
