Details
This Chablis opens with aromas of lemon, lime and white flowers, followed by hints of green apple and wet stone. The palate is vibrant and finely balanced, combining bright acidity with a subtle creamy texture. It's fresh, mineral and quietly complex, and finishes long, clean, and mouthwateringly saline.

Domaine Vrignaud is a true family story, rooted in Fontenay-près-Chablis for five generations. While the family had long grown grapes, everything changed in 1999 when Guillaume Vrignaud persuaded his father to leave the local cooperative, build a cellar and start bottling their own wines. It was a bold move, and one that paid off. What began as a 12-hectare domaine has steadily grown to around 28 hectares, all now farmed organically, with a reputation for precision, purity and consistency. Guillaume believes great Chablis is made first and foremost in the vineyard. His parcels span Kimmeridgian limestone, white clay and Portlandian soils, and rather than championing one over the other, he prefers blending them to build balance and complexity. Certified organic since 2019, the vineyards are worked with great care, and harvest timing is key. “I pick when the seeds are brown but before the grapes become heavy or overripe,” Guillaume explains. The goal? Chablis that is taut, mineral and precise, rather than broad or flashy - a philosophy that has clearly struck a chord, with the 2022 vintage crowned Fine White Wine of the Year at the 2024 Sommelier Wine Awards.

Pairing guide
This fab Chablis works just as well as an aperitif as it does at the table. Classic pairings include oysters, grilled fish, fish tacos or roast chicken with a light cream sauce. For vegan options, try lemon-dressed asparagus, chickpea and fennel salad, crispy tofu with herbs, or a white bean and olive oil bruschetta. The wine’s acidity and minerality cut cleanly through richness while echoing fresh, saline flavours, making it a brilliant match for simple, seasonal dishes.

Wine region
Chablis, France
Chablis is located in the northern part of Burgundy and is known for its very distinctive style of Chardonnay. The region is famous for its limestone-based soil types, known as Kimmeridgian marl which is made up of oyster shells that settled on the ocean floor a very long time ago. This is what makes these wines so unique with the mineral profile to the wine that has made Chablis an adjective for steely Chardonnay worldwide.
