Details
This Sancerre Rosé is pure Pinot Noir elegance with a flinty edge. Salmon-pink in the glass, it opens with aromas of rose petals, orange peel, wild strawberry and cherry. On the palate it’s electric: citrus zest, red berries and a distinctly crunchy, mineral snap from those silex soils. Bone-dry, high-toned, and beautifully balanced, it finishes long and racy, leaving your palate refreshed and begging for another sip.

Tucked away in the tiny, quietly legendary village of Bué, Domaine Crochet is Sancerre royalty without the ego. This is a proper family affair, five generations deep, and you can feel it the moment you step into their immaculate, no-nonsense winery. Dominique and Janine planted the roots back in 1982, and today their sons Teddy (ex-rugby player, and built like one but gentle as a winemaker should be) and Cyprien are carrying the torch. The vineyards here are the stuff of Loire dreams: steep slopes, crazy exposures, and a patchwork of soils from limestone and clay to pure silex (flint). What really sets the Crochets apart is their obsession with old vines and honest expression. Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc vines between 30 and 70 years old, farmed sustainably and on the road to full organic certification, all hand-harvested and treated with serious respect. Stainless steel does the heavy lifting in the cellar to keep everything bright, floral and precise, while the underground cellar quietly houses barrels like sacred objects. These wines are super elegant, with energy, clarity, and that unmistakable Sancerre crunch. When people say rosé can be serious, this is exactly what they mean.

Pairing guide
This is aperitif gold, but don’t stop there. Think tuna crudo with blood orange and fennel, or grilled sea bass with lemon, capers and olive oil. It’s magic with canapés like smoked trout rillettes, salmon blinis, or even duck prosciutto if you’re feeling fancy. For a vegan win, try charred asparagus with pink grapefruit, almonds and a miso-citrus dressing, or a strawberry and tomato gazpacho with basil oil - the acidity and flinty edge of the wine absolutely sing here. Crisp, food-loving, and dangerously drinkable, this is rosé for people who really like wine.
