Details
A textbook Sancerre for all of the Sauvignon Blanc lovers out there! This is a wine you want to drink when you are craving home comforts. Lots of zesty grapefruit and key lime pie notes on the nose are met with a fresh, steely pithy palate. There is a richness here, that slight creaminess is cut in half by piercing acidity. The wine finishes with a smokey, gun flint character.
Sancerre is a wine region of France of almost unparalleled renown and sophistication, with a history which extends back through the various royal houses of Europe, and which continues to astonish and seduce to this day. Arguably among the most talented winemakers - in possession of the Sancerre-specific art of blending so essential to this wine style - is Thibauld Denizot, the current captain at the helm of his family winery in Verdigny. Thibauld is an eighth-generation winemaker at Domaine Denizot, which gives some notion as to the depth of his knowledge and insight, and which tells plenty of this ancestral importance of his family operation. His meticulous attention extends across the 19 hectares of his estate, which are planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir of exceptional quality. Gravel-rich soils ensure low yields of absolute expression, and Denizot knows exactly how to make the most of these beautiful grapes in his elegantly perfumed wines; the very essence of this esteemed corner of the French countryside.

Pairing guide
This Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine Denizot does a fantastic job of treading the line between time-honoured tradition and racy modernity, and pulls no punches when it comes to freshness and vibrancy. We absolutely love it with dishes of baked goats’ cheese, feta and spinach, and simple pasta sauces of zucchini and ricotta, and it’s also going to be superb with rustic white fish dishes and barbecued chicken breast, too. Turkey with a herby or citrus dressing will also work well, and so will green bean and asparagus side dishes, leafy salads, and pork with creamed spinach.
