Details
Vouvray seems to have fallen a bit out of fashion in recent years and we just don't get it. This wine comes from the famous tuffeau soils of the region, and is characterised by marked acidity with a beautiful, fat richness. This is waxy, honeyed and fleshy in the mouth with wonderful concentration. An exceptional expression of Vouvray, and a reason to fall back in love with this appellation.

Chenin Blanc isn’t the only grape varietal grown in the prestigious Vouvray region of France, but when it comes to high quality, expressive, and traditional Vouvray wines, it’s Chenin Blanc that reigns supreme. Damine Pinon is a third generation vintner, and proud owner of his eponymous winery. For him and his wife Ingrid, producing Chenin Blanc of remarkable character is nothing short of an obsession… and an obsession which has won them plenty of accolades and a global community of fans along the way. Their family winery sits in the Vouvray commune of Vernou-sur-Brenne, and features 25 hectares of heritage Chenin Blanc wines - many of which are over thirty years old, and capable of capturing the finer features of this stunning corner of France. Pinon made the bold decision to only age his wines in cellars based upon ancient French winemaking methods; they’re dug straight into the tuffeau, where he can ensure a steady, balanced aging which brings out the very best in his amazing fruit in each and every rich and fascinating bottle. Pairing guide
Bold, bodacious, and utterly bibbable, this gorgeous Chenin Blanc from Damien Pinon really hits the spot! You’ll want to crank up the flavour for pairing with this wine - it’s got a particular affinity with fermented flavours, and it’s also going to work brilliantly with North African and Ethiopian cuisine. Roast poultry is never a bad idea, especially with a nicely charred, salty skin, and the autumnal flavours of roasted squash, mushrooms, and pumpkin will also hit the spot perfectly. Salty cheeses like feta and halloumi are a fantastic idea with this wine, as is anything that makes great use of salted and cured meats.
