Details
Here we have a lovely, pure and honest expression of Pinot Noir, and from Romania of all places! Expect lots of bright cherry and redcurrant fruit, with a slightly dusty, mulchy forest floor character - something we certainly didn't expect of Pinot at this price! Brilliantly executed.
Origin: Burgundy, France. Mainly Grown In: France, Germany, USA, NZ, Italy, Australia, Chile. Key Facts: As a wine drinker, Pinot Noir is one smooth talking charmer; silken texture, soft tannins, juicy acidity and as light in colour as it is on its feet. It does have a reputation however as challenging grape to grow - it's very picky about where it is planted and can be tricky to get right. But the toil of growing it is always worth it in the end! Nothing quite compares to the splendour of Pinot Noir — packed with flavours of strawberry, warm baking spices and elegant earthiness. Think of Pinot Noir as the diva of the wine world - like Mariah Carey - if you don't keep it happy, it's a nightmare, but if you get it right, it is amazing! More is never enough. Fun Fact: As their name suggests, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are related to Pinot Noir. In fact they are different-coloured clones of Pinot Noir.

Pairing guide
Romanian Pinot Noir is big news right now, and this bottle from Sanziana in the Banat region is the ideal way to get into this emerging and highly exciting wine scene. Silky-smooth and with deep fruit flavours, it’s a beautiful wine to pair with all your favourite braised red meat dishes, steak dinners, and European beef, lamb, and pork stews or casseroles. Beetroot and other roasted root vegetables will be wonderful here, as will homemade bean burgers, deeply savoury pies, and tomato-based pasta sauces.
