Details
It was love at first sip with this wonderfully unpushed, unfiltered frizzante from the ever-talented Bedin family at Colli Asolani. This is a sparkler that takes you down a more natural path, with notes of green apples and bruised orchard fruit leaping from the glass, intertwining with an attractive lanolin quality. This is rich and direct on the palate, with a salty tang and a sensational grapefruit pithy finish. Cloudy.

Società Agricola Colli Asolani was formed in 1990 by Giovanni Bedin who owned a vine nursery in Veneto, Italy. However, for a better understanding of this producer's history, we need to go back to his grandfather, Giacomo who purchased land in 1948 and planted his vines. Over the decades the family business has been passed from father to son and now lies in the capable hands of Enrico Bedin. Together with his brothers, Luigi, Damiano and Denis, the four have turned Colli Asolani into a modern outfit that is producing some of the best Prosecco around. The estate now owns around 40 hectares of vineyards that cover both DOC and DOCG (Italy's highest mark of quality) sub-regions. Of particular note is the Asolo DOCG, which in 2014 was conveniently named Colli Asolani (from Asolo), a name that Bedin's winery and their brand now share with this prestigious Prosecco-producing region. Across their range, the Bedins are producing wonderfully clean and fresh examples of declassified 'frizzante' style wines, through to precise Proseccos that range in their style and sweetness. We are delighted to be working with them here at Good Pair Days.

Pairing guide
With its bright and elegant character, delicious bubbles and amazing food-friendliness, we just know this Italian sparkler is going to be a hit at your next dinner party or family gathering. It’s a superb pairing for richer seafood dishes of buttery scallops, grilled prawns, crab salads or a proper lobster thermidor, and it’s also delightful with Thai noodles, sushi, sweet and sour chicken and vegetables, and all kinds of fried treats ranging from fish ‘n’ chips to calamari, Korean chicken and katsu curry. Nice!

Veneto, Italy
The Veneto wine region is located in the north-east of Italy and is known for producing some of the most distinct wines in Italy. The region has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The broader region is home to three DOCG and twenty three DOC wine regions and produces iconic wines like Prosecco, Soave and Amarone. The region is the third largest in Italy and accounts for the bulk of Prosecco production in the world.
