Details
A lovely, juicy Malbec here with a subtle, seductive liquorice quality that we found super inviting on the nose. This wine is grippy, with chalky tannins and a nice backbone of acidity making this a pretty fresh expression of Argentina's darling grape variety. Tidy stuff!
Origin: Cahors, in Southwestern France. Mainly Grown In: Argentina and France, and a little bit in Chile and USA. Key Facts: Psychologists probably love Malbec because it is the perfect candidate for a nature vs. nurture case study. In France, where Malbec originated (nature), it often struggles to ripen and is given less attention than its more famous counterparts who hold more prestige and a higher price tag ahem, we're looking at you, Cab and Merlot from Bordeaux. But in Argentina, Malbec is treated like royalty and is given the best plots of land where it can relish in sun-drenched vineyards (nurture) allowing it to produce wines of a distinct deep purple hue that burst with dark and bramble fruit flavours, violet, peppery spice and vanilla. Amazing what a little TLC can do for a grape's success. Fun Fact: In France Malbec is used more often as a blending grape, but will often be less than 10% of the final wine blend.

Pairing guide
Cima Blanca has done a fantastic job of encapsulating everything we love about Malbec in this delicious bottle - it’s bold, it’s deeply flavourful, and it pairs perfectly with some of our favourite dishes! Like most Malbec, this is a top-notch barbecue wine, and will match up spectacularly well with grilled red meats and Mediterranean vegetables like aubergine and red pepper. It’s got a real affinity for hearty dishes of lamb shank with gravy, and it’s a great choice for your next fajita night or family spag bol, too.

Mendoza, Argentina
Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region which is located in the foothills of the Andes mountains. Mendoza is located 1000 km inland from Buenos Aires and is closer to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The region is famed for Malbec, which accounts for 20% of the variety planted in the country, yet also produces high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the native grape variety, Torrontés.
