Details
This is one of those wines you don’t have to think too much about. It has it all. Ripe black berry fruits with a good dose of cracked black pepper, liquorice and spice as one should expect from Syrah. This is a wine that is packed with more blue fruit on the palate, with a soft mouthfeel yet enough structure to warrant a bit of food. Easy peasy!

Christophe's wines are a modern take on classic varieties and styles from Castelnau-de-Guers, a small village in the heart of Picpoul country in southern France. His portfolio displays fantastic typicity, value and some very slick labels- we are very proud to be working with him here in the UK. Cool fact: Christophe was once France's biggest exporter of melons! With that in mind, all of his 'CB' range tastes like melon. Ok, not really. It's also worth mentioning that there is probably a lot more money in selling melons than there is in grapes, but these guys do it for the love and passion they have for wine. On a more serious note, the 'CB' range of wines are all part of the French "Haut Valeur Environmentale" (an environmental accreditation) and are working towards organic certification. All of his vineyards are in effect organic, they just don't have the official status.

Pairing guide
With its stunning balance and beautiful structure, this Syrah blend really impresses when it comes to both flavour and versatility. It’s a fabulous wine to take along to your next barbecue - Syrah loves a bit of smoke and fat - and it’s going to be a great pairing for steaks, chops, and ribs cooked low and slow over coals. This wine is also a brilliant pairing for Mediterranean vegetable dishes; it’s got a natural affinity with red capsicum and eggplant preparations, especially when given depth and aroma by plenty of herbs. Homemade burgers, bacon dishes, and classic meaty pasta sauces will also work brilliantly.

As a result, you may find many innovative, even atypical blends in this region, that represent excellent value. Of the numerous varieties available in Languedoc Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Viognier are the stand outs.
