Details
This fantastic red is almost equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the latter giving way to a touch of Petit Verdot, offering up a wonderful graphite, inky character. It is savoury, with graphite and plenty of forest floor notes.
Château Cambon la Pelouse are no stranger to the old wine-drinking guard here in the UK and boasts older export links to the British Isles than most other Châteaux in Bordeaux - going back to the 17th century. So, it's safe to say that these guys have gained quite the cult following over the years, and it's easy to see why when you get stuck into their wines. The estate tends to around 35 hectares of vineyards and can call prestigious names such as Giscours and Cantemerle as its neighbours - they are in very, very good company. Highly awarded, the wines of Cambon la Pelouse continue to move through the times and are considered by many to be one of the finer estates in the southern Médoc; specialising in Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in particular. These are elegant wines, indicative of classic Bordeaux with density and effortless balance.

Wine region

Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France, known for producing some of the world's most coveted and expensive wines. The main takeaway is that Bordeaux wines are a blend of grape varieties. Sometimes called noble varieties, this includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. This ‘Bordeaux blend’ style is emulated worldwide from Australia to South America!
Key regions can be divided into two areas, the Left Bank and the Right Bank. The Left Bank includes Médoc, comprised of sub-regions - Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, and Margaux. These wines are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with serious tannin structure for the long term. The Right Bank is known for softer wines made of Merlot. The top right-bank area is Pomerol, home to the iconic Château Pétrus with honourable mentions to Saint-Emilion and Fronsac.
