Details
With the base of this wine being Merlot and Semillon, we have a delicate crémant filled with lemon zest, mineral drive, and a nice creamy edge. The palate is clean and crisp, with soft bubbles and a vibrant finish.

While Bordeaux may be more well-known for its eye-wateringly expensive reds and life-changing dessert wines, there has been a recent shift towards producing sparkling wines. This is especially true when you can use red varieties (without the skin contact) to make delicious bubbles. Château Bastor-Lamontagne is a historic estate in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, renowned for producing elegant, sweet wines that reflect the charm and finesse of this prestigious region. With a history dating back to the 18th century, the château has long been admired for its commitment to quality, crafting wines that strike a balance between richness and freshness. While best known for its classic Sauternes, Château Bastor-Lamontagne also embraces a more modern approach, producing dry whites and Crémant that showcase the versatility of Bordeaux’s terroir. Crémant de Bordeaux is a relatively new category of Crémant to the French sparkling wine scene. Although it won’t be overtaking Champagne anytime soon, we still believe that this is a lovely segway that you won’t have to take out a second mortgage to enjoy.

Pairing guide
Fresh, crisp, and delicately fruity, SO Crémant de Bordeaux offers lively bubbles, citrus blossom aromas, and a subtle brioche finish. It’s a perfect aperitif pour, but also a versatile match at the table. Pair it with oysters, seared scallops, or grilled prawns for a classic coastal combination. It also works beautifully with creamy brie, goat cheese, or smoked salmon canapés. For something more relaxed, try it with fried chicken, vegetable tempura, or fish and chips—the bright acidity will cut through the richness with ease.

Wine region
Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France, known for producing some of the world's most coveted and expensive wines. The main takeaway is that Bordeaux wines are a blend of grape varieties. Sometimes called noble varieties, this includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. This ‘Bordeaux blend’ style is emulated worldwide from Australia to South America! Key regions can be divided into two areas, the Left Bank and the Right Bank. The Left Bank includes Médoc, comprised of sub-regions - Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, and Margaux. These wines are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with serious tannin structure for the long term. The Right Bank is known for softer wines made of Merlot. The top right-bank area is Pomerol, home to the iconic Château Pétrus with honourable mentions to Saint-Emilion and Fronsac.
