Details
Oh boy, so this is why Picpoul is so popular then! This Languedoc whiet variety goes from strength to strength. Lip-smacking purity of fruit by the way of fleshy lime, yellow pear and green apples dance across the palate and interlace sumptuously with a finish of honey and acacia. This is a wine that combines texture and flavour perfectly.

The rise of Picpoul de Pinet has not escaped wine drinkers here in the UK. For a number of years these wonderfully clean, fresh wines have been a mainstay for lovers of crisp white wine, and nothing delivers more convincingly than Lévre Piquante. They say what grows together goes together, and Lévre Piquante is produced just down the road from the famous oyster farm of Etang de Thau, so it's safe to say that these wines are the perfect accompaniment to shellfish and seafood. Produced by the award winning Cave de l'Ormarine, which was conceived when five like-minded, quality focused cooperatives decided to unite to produce outstanding wine. The team works hard to source some of the finest grapes from some 400+ growers from across the region to ensure that only the best fruit goes into their wines. They produce a range of styles; from dessert wine, to rich, bold reds and delicate rosé. However, there is no arguing that Picpoul is the flagship wine of this outfit. These vineyards benefit from their proximity to the ocean, which plays a vital role in bringing balance and freshness to every single grape.

Pairing guide
Picpoul de Pinet is right up there with our all-time favourite white wine styles; there’s something about the freshness and vivacity of this wine that simply can’t be beaten! We especially loved this wine with seafood and shellfish dishes - it’s a real winner with moules mariniere, spaghetti with clams, and fresh oysters. However, you’ll also get great results from chargrilled chicken breast, vegetarian pad Thai, and other fiery southeast Asian tofu, chicken, and fish favourites.

As a result, you may find many innovative, even atypical blends in this region, that represent excellent value. Of the numerous varieties available in Languedoc Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Viognier are the stand outs.
