Details
This is yet another shining example as to just why the Italian powers that be finally allowed Prosecco Rosé to be a thing. The Terra Viniza is a silky, seductive number with attractive notes of ripe strawberry and a lovely peachy character, framed by a welcome bitter, herbal note. There is a lovely creamy element to the mouthfeel here, it is rich and generous, this is pretty serious kit.

We discovered Azienda Agricola Casere on a recent trip to Italy, where we were immediately impressed by the quality of their brilliant wine portfolio which ranges from impressive varietal table wines to top-quality Prosecco from the Veneto region. The estate covers around 150 hectares of vines located in the land around San Stino di Livenza, in the province of Venice. 2022 marks the 100th birthday of Casere and a century of winemaking has taught the team a thing or two about producing quality wine in this part of the world. They have been quick to recognise the potential of more international varieties, with significant plantings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay as well as more local varieties Pinot Grigio and Refosco (a red grape). For us, it was their textural Pinot Grigio that stole the show on the still wine side of things. However the jewel in Casere's crown is their DOCG Lison Pramaggiore made 100% from the Friulano grape variety, this DOCG is arguably the best expression of this grape.

Pairing guide
Beautifully dry and with a plush flourish of fruity character, this rosé Prosecco from Casere is definitely one to remember. Ideal with dishes of ham, pink lamb, charcuterie and grilled or slow-cooked pork, beautiful with mussels, clams and other robust seafood dishes, and beautiful with grain-based salads and Moroccan-inspired light bites, it’s a joy to bring into your food-pairing repertoire. We also loved this sparkler with smoked salmon, prosciutto bruschetta, Sichuan noodles and fried samosas, alongside all kinds of fried chicken or tofu dishes.

Veneto, Italy
The Veneto wine region is located in the north-east of Italy and is known for producing some of the most distinct wines in Italy. The region has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The broader region is home to three DOCG and twenty three DOC wine regions and produces iconic wines like Prosecco, Soave and Amarone. The region is the third largest in Italy and accounts for the bulk of Prosecco production in the world.
