Details
This Verdejo is zesty and fresh, packed with top notes of prickly pears and orchard fruit. Ripe and floral with plenty of drinkability. Tart and fresh on the palate, this is vividly fruity, with plenty of energy.
Origin: Spain. Mainly Grown In: The central-northern Spanish region of Rueda. Also in small amounts in the USA. Key Facts: Verdejo is the pride and joy of Rueda, in the northern part of Spain. Here it achieves its ultimate expression - nutty, rich and aromatic. It's a real chameleon of a grape, having some characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc (with both grapes grassy and high acidity), but also some richer, rounder tones. Look out for complex flavours of bay leaf, almond and lemon. Whilst the acidity can be bright and tangy, there's always plenty of depth to the wines, meaning they have a really lovely texture - soft and even creamy sometimes. A really lovely expression that deserves more attention! Fun Fact: Verdejo has a friend (they look similar) called Verdelho, who is more popular but not quite as exceptional. Shhh, don't tell her I said that.

Pairing guide
Fresh, crisp, and brimming with citrus and grassy notes, Casa La Teja Verdejo is a total crowd-pleaser for lovers of zesty whites. It’s made for light and lively dishes like grilled fish with lemon, seafood paella, or a vibrant green salad with goat’s cheese and herbs. It’s fantastic with sushi, fresh ceviche, or even a zippy caprese salad. If you’re feeling snacky, grab some salted almonds or manchego cheese to bring out its citrusy pop. The wine’s bright acidity also cuts through richer flavours, so it’s perfect with creamy dips or garlicky prawns too. Basically, if it’s fresh, summery, and a little tangy, this Verdejo is ready to roll. Best served chilled with good food, good friends, and a little sunshine.

Wine region
Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
La Mancha is a wine region in Spain known for its hot and dry climate, high altitude vineyards, and significant grape production the top sub-regions are Almansa, Jumilla, and Manchuela, each with its own unique wine styles. The terroir across these regions can be characterized by the high chalk content of its soil, which helps to retain moisture during the arid summers. The top wine styles produced in La Mancha are primarily red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, including the well-known Crianza and the top tier Reserva styles, as well as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. However, the region also produces some white wines made from the fruity Airen grape, which is a native varietal of La Mancha and one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world.
