Details
Kinisia's Nero Blend is bold and spicy, bursting with blackberries, black plum, and cherries. Layers of liquorice, pepper, cedar wood and a hint of tobacco add depth, all wrapped up in 12 months of old oak smooth integration. Vegan-friendly and seriously drinkable.

Let us introduce you to Cantina Birgi - a laid-back legend from the sun-soaked coast of western Sicily, right near the dreamy Stagnone Lagoon. Kicking off in 1960 with just ten local farmers, it’s now a 1,000-strong crew growing grapes across nearly 3,000 hectares. They blend old-school bush vines with modern techniques, keeping it real while turning out seriously high-quality fruit year after year. Birgi’s all about showing off Sicily’s flavour-packed grapes - think Grillo, Nero d’Avola, Frappato, and Catarratto - in everything from crisp organics to silky reds and vibrant sparkling wines. They're hands-on in the vineyard and dead set on quality, and it’s paying off - six of their wines just scored wins at the 2024 Wine Hunter Awards, including a Gold for their Zibibbo. Long story short: Birgi is the real deal - rooted in tradition, buzzing with innovation, and bottling pure Sicilian soul.

Pairing guide
Kinisia Nero Blend’s smoky tobacco and bay leaf notes make it a knockout with hearty, flavour-packed dishes. Think slow-roasted beef brisket rubbed with herbs, spicy lamb meatballs with a touch of cumin, or a rich mushroom and lentil shepherd’s pie. It also vibes perfectly with smoked gouda or aged pecorino on your cheese board. If you’re feeling fancy, try it with a peppery venison stew - guaranteed to make your taste buds do a happy dance!

Wine region
Sicily, Italy
Sicily is a productive island located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the southern coast of Italy. The island has a varied landscape, with low coastal plains to hills and even active volcanic mountains. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Disease pressure is low thanks to drying coastal breezes making the region ideal for organic farming practices. The soils are volcanic, sandy, and clay. Sicily can be divided into three wine regions, including the volcanic Etna DOC on the eastern side of the island, known for its red wines made from the Nerello Mascalese grape. The Marsala DOC on the island's western side is known for its fortified wines. The remaining Southeast of the Island produces a range of wines, notably Frappato and Nero d’Avola.
