Details
The smaller sibling to the celebrated 'Briar Hill' Chardonnay. This cuvée is totally delicious and a fine example of Australian Chardonnay, putting fruit front and centre, with clever use of oak maturation and subtle complexity.

Being a company with Aussie roots, it's only natural that we shine the spotlight on some awesome producers coming out of Australia. However it is fair to say that a lot of killer Australian wine sadly does not make it over to the UK, so when we discovered and tasted the epic wines of Briar Ridge, there was only one thing to do! Back in 2022 our Wine Buyer in the UK was attending a dinner in London to celebrate wines from New South Wales, this is when he met Briar's head winemaking sensation, Alex Beckett. At the time, Alex was gaining valuable experience crushing grapes in Germany and made the trip to London to showcase his wines. At this point, the wines were not in the UK, but now they are and we can't wait to share them with you. The team is not afraid to push the boat out with international varieties, working with Albariño and Fiano white grapes, the classic Hunter Valley Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines of Briar Ridge are of very high quality and should be on your radar!

Pairing guide
Love at first swill with this Chardonnay from Briar Ridge, this is the kind of wine we want to share with friends (the kind you want to impress) over a laid-back luncheon. Wonderful with classic salads dressed in creamy or yoghurt sauces, and perfect with brunch specials of avocado, smoked salmon, and ham. Delicious with chicken legs, pesto, luxurious seafood dishes and silky hand-made pasta with chicken and smoky pancetta. A pairing guaranteed to deliver.

Wine region
Hunter Valley, Australia
The Hunter Valley is located in New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately 150km northwest of Sydney and is known for producing world-class Semillon and formidable Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, and Shiraz. The region has a long history of winemaking, with the first vines planted in the 1830s. Today, the Hunter Valley is home to more than 150 wineries, ranging from small, family-owned operations to larger, internationally recognized producers such as Tyrell’s Wines, Mount Pleasant Wines and Brokenwood Wines. Hunter Valley comprises the following sub-regions: Upper Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich, and Pokolbin. The region's climate is warm and humid, relying on rain, humidity, cloud cover and sea breeze to mitigate the warmth. Soil types vary across the region. Generally, Semillon performs well on the sandy alluvial flats, whereas Shiraz prefers the red loamy soil types.
