Details
This deliciously drinkable white combines Airén, of course, and a dash of Macabeo (Viura). The inviting nose projects notes of tropical, sweet yellow fruit that sit effortlessly alongside a lovely herbal accent with a faint suggestion of bitterness on the finish which holds things together nicely.
Origin: Spain. Mainly Grown In: Spain. Key Facts: Airén is arguably the world’s most prolific grape variety that you've never heard of. It is almost entirely planted in Spain, in particular across the La Mancha plateau where in the summer months, it gets super warm, and Airén has the ability to cope with the heat very well, without losing too much acidity. It is traditionally used for much of Spain’s brandy production (which is why you might not have heard of it before) but when it is treated well and given the respect is deserves, it has the ability to make easy-drinking and approachable white wines that blend well with a number of local, and more international grape varieties in Spain. Fun Fact: Until only a few years ago, Airén was the world’s most planted white grape variety!

Pairing guide
This gorgeous Airén from Pinoso is perfect for summertime drinking, and never fails to impress with its versatility when it comes to food pairing. It’s a top bottle to crack open during a beach barbecue - it’s going to taste amazing with grilled prawns, white fish, and chicken - and it’s also stunning with veggie risotto, creamy pasta dishes, and green salads. Vegetables like artichoke and fennel will work brilliantly here, and you’ll get excellent results from matching this wine with garlic-stuffed chicken breast, too.
