Details
This wine is all about balance and poise, power and precision. The nose is pure varietal charm - a vivid mix of ripe red and black fruits layered with herbal lift and a touch of minerality that speaks clearly of the Naoki vineyard’s character. On the palate, it’s silky and seamless, with beautifully integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity that slices cleanly through the lush, concentrated fruit. There’s depth and complexity here, but also restraint - the freshness keeps it agile, while the mineral and herbal undertones add intrigue to the long, graceful finish.

Bodegas Casarena operate in what many like to call the 'Hollywood' of sub-regions in Mendoza: Luján de Cuyo. This part of Argentina's most prolific wine region is home to some of the best vineyards and most high-profile producers the country has to offer. Casarena is not only proud of its advantageous location but also of its 'terroir'. This is a word that the wine trade uses to describe any natural effect that may impact or dictate the character of a wine. It's safe to say that the team here are fierce custodians of their terroir, and have even gone so far as to conduct research projects in their own vineyards to better understand the land in which their fruit comes from. The winery was built in 1937 and is surrounded by one of the estate's treasures: the Jamilla Vineyard. Casarena is also rightfully proud of two of their other vineyards worth noting; Naoki and Lauren. Each of these sites displays a unique personality and produces - whilst all high quality - very different characteristics in their grapes. This diversity of vineyards, climates and soils has made the Casarena wine portfolio seriously exciting.

Pairing guide
This expressive, mineral-tinged red is a dream match for dishes with both boldness and elegance. Think a perfectly seared Chateaubriand or a Tomahawk steak cooked medium-rare - the wine’s freshness and fine acidity will cut through the richness, while its supple tannins echo the savoury depth of the meat. For something a touch more luxe, a rib of beef with bone marrow butter adds a decadent layer that plays beautifully with the wine’s core of dark fruit and herbal complexity. Vegetarians, don’t worry - a butternut squash steak au poivre brings caramelised sweetness and a peppery kick that matches the wine’s structure note for note. This is a bottle built for indulgent, flavour-packed plates.
