This is one of those wines that you need on your rack after a long day at work. Simplicity at its best, with excellent berry fruit purity and a subtle Fruit Pastille, Jelly Baby undertow with flavours of charcoal and liquorice on the finish.

Bodega Esteban Martin is a large, modern winery in the heart of Cariñena, a hot wine region in central northeastern Spain. The region of Cariñena is a well-known one and has begun to impress the wine world of late. Part of the larger Aragon region that spans from the Pyrenees in the north, down to the central Iberian plateau, moving into La mancha. The region takes its name from the town of Cariñena itself, which has also adopted the grape variety that takes the same name (Cariñena is also known as Carignan worldwide). Like much of Spain, wine production dates back to Roman times. Garnacha (Grenache) also does particularly well in Cariñena, and is often blended with the region's eponymous grape variety, producing rich, full-bodied reds that often take well to oak. The region is yet another tip of the hat to the sheer versatility and range on show from the Spanish wine industry, and Bodega Esteban Martín are a typical custodian of the region.
