Details
This is classic Xinomavro 101 folks, in all its glory! Look out for intense aromatics of dried herbs and cured meat that intermingle with attractive, lifted notes of cranberry and sour cherry. Par for the course, this wine is super-tannic, with bags of grip, but lovely, fresh acidity to boot, making for a perfectly poised, balanced number with lots of dried herbal notes on the finish.
Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa is a cooperative winery with one goal in mind: to change the consumer attitude and perceptions of Xinomavro, arguably Greece's finest red grape variety. Xinomavro is a pretty beguiling grape variety and is often compared to Italy's Nebbiolo for its light to medium body and high tannic structure, and/or Pinot Noir. Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa works closely with their growers across the Naoussa region of Northern Greece - which is the birthplace of this noble grape variety - to extract the very best quality fruit they can produce. All members of the co-op work both sustainably and according to organic practice. The team's pure dedication to Xinomavro has manifested in just two wines being produced. One is an unoaked iteration of the variety, favouring a more fruit-driven character, whilst its counterpart sees considerable oak, adding a wonderful wave of complexity to this already ethereal grape variety.

Pairing guide
Bold and tannic, this stunning Xinomavro wine is one to fall head over heels in love with. It’s a top-notch food pairing bottle too, allowing you to bring out the big guns when it comes to flavour. We especially enjoy this wine with the umami punch of wild mushrooms, miso and truffle, and it’s going to be great with a really strong mature cheddar, blue cheese pasta dishes, pumpkin, squash and roast poultry dinners. US-style barbecue brisket, homemade burgers, rich stews and casseroles and slow-cooked lamb will also be fantastic options to explore!
