Details
This wine doesn't pull any punches, with a bit of bottle age now, expect rustic red and black berry fruit with opulence and elegance in tandem. Smoke and tar notes combine with a slither of meat and game. This is a wine drinking at the peak of its powers.
Antica Tenuta Pietramore is a winery located in the Abruzzo region of Italy, known for producing high-quality, organic, biodynamic and vegan-friendly wines. The winery focuses on indigenous grape varieties such as Pecorino, Montepulciano and Trebbiano, crafting wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Colli Aprutini area. One of their flagship wines is the Pecorino Superiore, a white wine made from the Pecorino grape (not the cheese). The winery also produces a Trebbiano Pét Nat, a sparkling wine made using the traditional Méthode Ancestrale method. Maria Pia Leone makes the wines here at Pietramore and is committed to sustainable and organic viticulture, using natural methods to cultivate the vineyards and produce her wines. This commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in their certification as a bio-vegan winery, ensuring their wines are free from animal-derived products. The wines here have a fantastic freshness considering the warmth of the region.

Pairing guide
Italy’s Montepulciano wines have been giving Sangiovese output a run for its money in recent years, and this gorgeous release from Pietramore is a fantastic example to explore. When it comes to food pairing, we reckon this is a top match for peri-peri chicken and similarly spiced lamb dishes, as well as all kinds of Moroccan chicken and lamb creations, too. Beef burgers, bean burgers, paprika chicken, chorizo, ‘nduja and other punchy charcuterie products, hearty Spanish rice creations, comforting stews and roasted sweet potato or squash will also be fantastic with this wine.
