Details
One of two Chenin Blancs made by Angus Paul in the exact same way, but from different vineyards. This plot sits on slopes facing southwest, with an unbroken view over False Bay - this brings in cooling afternoon breezes, and the result is a vertical wine with waves of fresh acidity and structure. This is taut and mineral, with lean fruit and lime character.
Angus Paul is part of the exciting new wave of South African winemakers reshaping the way we think about the country's most iconic grape — Chenin Blanc. Based in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious wine regions, Angus is producing wines that are equal parts soulful, site-driven, and unapologetically expressive. Stellenbosch is traditionally known for bold reds and textbook whites, but Angus leans into the more curious side of winemaking — championing minimal intervention, natural fermentation, and a deep respect for heritage varieties. With a background in viticulture and a few seasons under his belt both locally and abroad, Angus launched his own label with a mission to make wines that embrace the wildness of nature while telling a distinctly South African story. His wines often come with poetic names and thoughtful labels, each one a reflection of his imaginative, slightly offbeat approach. You’ll find old bush vines, long lees contact, skin fermentations, and native yeasts in the cellar — and yet, the wines are never muddy or messy. They're sharp, characterful, and deliciously drinkable. Angus Paul’s range is for drinkers who like their wines with personality, playfulness, and a sense of place.

Pairing guide
Bright and zippy, this Chenin is ideal for seafood — oysters, ceviche, or grilled prawns with a citrus dressing are no-brainers. It also works wonders with goat’s cheese, crunchy salads, or Vietnamese-style rice paper rolls. Anything fresh, crisp, and a little zesty will make this wine absolutely shine.

Wine region

Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch is one of South Africa’s premier wine regions, located in the Western Cape, outside Cape Town. In South Africa, wine regions are known as winelands. Stellenbosch means ‘town of oaks’ and its winemaking dates back to the 17th century. The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The wineland itself is known for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the local speciality, Pinotage.
