Details
One of two Chenins from Paul, both made in exactly the same way. This cuvée is from a different single vineyard site that's warmer than its sibling, resulting in the more full-bodied, muscular of the two wines. Expect more yellow fruit character and density on the palate, with notes of papaya, mango and vanilla.

Angus Paul is part of the exciting new wave of South African winemakers reshaping the way we think about the country's most iconic grape — Chenin Blanc. Based in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious wine regions, Angus is producing wines that are equal parts soulful, site-driven, and unapologetically expressive. Stellenbosch is traditionally known for bold reds and textbook whites, but Angus leans into the more curious side of winemaking — championing minimal intervention, natural fermentation, and a deep respect for heritage varieties. With a background in viticulture and a few seasons under his belt both locally and abroad, Angus launched his own label with a mission to make wines that embrace the wildness of nature while telling a distinctly South African story. His wines often come with poetic names and thoughtful labels, each one a reflection of his imaginative, slightly offbeat approach. You’ll find old bush vines, long lees contact, skin fermentations, and native yeasts in the cellar — and yet, the wines are never muddy or messy. They're sharp, characterful, and deliciously drinkable. Angus Paul’s range is for drinkers who like their wines with personality, playfulness, and a sense of place.

Pairing guide
This wine loves dishes with texture and depth — think roasted cauliflower with tahini, grilled chicken with lemon and herbs, or a wedge of Comté. It also pairs beautifully with North African-inspired fare: tagines, couscous, or anything with preserved lemon and a touch of spice. Basically, if it’s fragrant and layered, Barbary Fictions is ready to join the party.
