Details
This is a 50/50 blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha and we love it! So many Tempranillo wines at this level tend to be fruit bombs. Whilst we don't mind that at all, we love a wine with a bit of class. This is a super crisp, fresh style with a nose of blueberry fruit, with plenty of structure and backbone.
Origin: Rioja, in central-northern Spain. Mainly Grown In: All over Spain, but also a few places in Australia and California. Key Facts: Imagine taking the classic variety Tempranillo and darkening the fruit spectrum and polishing off some of the rustic edges. Making it whip smart, tightening things up and making it into a really flashy young thing. That's essentially what these blends are - they have the soul of Tempranillo, but they set off on a different path, a path that is equally delicious, just a little bit different. Loads of spicy, berry-fruit muskiness here, tied up with mouth-filling tannins. Sometimes richer, sometimes lighter, always good drinking. Fun Fact: Tempranillo got its name from the word "temprano" which means "early". This is because the Tempranillo grape ripens earlier than many other Spanish grapes. It also makes it the perfect wine to open if you're a little early yourself and need to crack into a wine before 5pm.

Pairing guide
There’s no getting away from the fact that Tempranillo is right up there with the best food-pairing reds available, and Amigo de la Tierra’s stunning expression of Spain’s signature grape certainly does its homeland proud. This wine, bursting with deep fruit and spice, is a great pairing for paprika-spiked meat and vegetable casseroles and stews, and works beautifully with chilli con carne, red kidney bean dishes, homemade burgers, and Tex-Mex favourites like chicken or pork fajitas. Rich tomato ragùs, smoky meats and barbecued vegetables, and polenta creations will also hit the spot perfectly.

Wine region
Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
La Mancha is a wine region in Spain known for its hot and dry climate, high altitude vineyards, and significant grape production the top sub-regions are Almansa, Jumilla, and Manchuela, each with its own unique wine styles. The terroir across these regions can be characterized by the high chalk content of its soil, which helps to retain moisture during the arid summers. The top wine styles produced in La Mancha are primarily red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, including the well-known Crianza and the top tier Reserva styles, as well as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. However, the region also produces some white wines made from the fruity Airen grape, which is a native varietal of La Mancha and one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world.
