Details
This is classic Sangiovese 101 folks. We have oodles of tart cranberry and ripe red fruit from top to bottom and a lovely, sour cherry accent on the palate. This is bright and crunchy and has lots of freshness.
Origin: Southern Italy. Mainly Grown In: Italy, Argentina and parts of the New World, like Australia. Key Facts: Sangiovese is THE Italian grape - the Da Vinci of the Italian wine world. Complex, awe-inspiring and a curious balance of sophistication and rusticity. In addition to being Italy's most planted red grape, It was on the reputation of this grape that the Italian wine industry was built, and for good reason. Its bright-faced acidity, classic mouth-puckering sour cherry flavours and herbal Mediterranean touch (like savoury notes of oregano and thyme) are as earthy and rustic as they are seductive. And if Da Vinci was right that "nature is the source of all true knowledge", well wine lovers, let's drink from nature herself. Fun Fact: "Sanguis Jovis" is Latin for 'the blood of Jove' - a Roman God. Thus the juice of these grapes is a holy product ;)

Pairing guide
Every sip of this beautiful Sangiovese wine transports you to sunnier climes, making it a wonderful summer wine or bottle to take along to a barbecue. It’s most at home served alongside grilled pork, caponata dishes, tomato-based pasta sauces and ragus, and especially with a meaty pizza. However, it’s also a great choice for stews and casseroles enriched with tomato, red pesto creations, anything with a big heap of parmesan and with Mediterranean lamb dishes, too.

Wine region

Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Emilia-Romagna has to be one of the most important food regions in the world as the home of Parmigiano Reggiano and Balsamic Vinegar as well as Ragu or as we know it Spaghetti Bolognese. Aside from the amazing food, there is also some really decent wine to go with it! Known for producing delicious red wines like Lambrusco and Pignoletto as well as Sangiovese as well as white wines like Albana, this region has a unique climate that allows grapes to ripen perfectly. So when you next head to Bologna, make sure you enjoy all of the local produce!
