Details
This red is made from a blend of Tempranillo, Syrah, Pinot Noir and of course, the jewel in the crown of the Portuguese wine industry: Touriga Nacional. Look out for plenty of warming spice here from a light touch of oak. Lashings of bramble and black cherry leap from the glass and interlace with attractive notes of cedar and smoke.
AdegaMãe resides in the Lisboa (Lisbon) region of Portugal. This is an area that whilst being best known as the capital of the nation, is increasingly becoming more and more popular and associated with high-quality wine production. The estate was founded by the Alves family and many of Adegamãe's vineyards can be found within perfect proximity to the Atlantic. The cooling influence of the Ocean plays a pivotal role and cooling influence through the warm summer months, helping to strike the perfect balance between ripeness and freshness in their grapes. Adegamãe boasts a rich and diverse portfolio as they use the geography of Lisboa to their advantage. Their white grapes are planted closest to the sea, often giving them a mineral, saline accent. Their reds are planted in warmer sites inland, and it is playing with this proximity to the coast that has allowed them to work with a multitude of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc as well as Touriga's Franca and Nacional, with the latter naturally more at home in Portugal.

Pairing guide
We continue to fall head-over-heels in love with this variety, and Adegamãe continues to do a sterling job of deepening our affections. Touriga blend wines pair perfectly with lamb, beef, and cheaper cuts of pork, and you can't go wrong pairing this wine with a classic peri-peri whole roast chicken. Smoked meats, offal, and Portuguese favourites like roast octopus will be great, as will stuffed red peppers and tomatoes, grilled Mediterranean vegetables, and Iberian specialities like meat or mixed paella.
