Details
Notes of crystalline citrus and pears hit the nose here, this is clean, crisp and fresh; a wine that'll marry up perfectly with some shellfish and all sorts of seafood. Simplicity at its best!
Adegamãe resides in the Lisboa (Lisbon) region of Portugal. This is an area that whilst being best known as the capital of the nation, is increasingly becoming more and more popular and associated with high-quality wine production. The estate was founded by the Alves family and many of Adegamãe's vineyards can be found within perfect proximity to the Atlantic. The cooling influence of the Ocean plays a pivotal role and cooling influence through the warm summer months, helping to strike the perfect balance between ripeness and freshness in their grapes. Adegamãe boasts a rich and diverse portfolio as they use the geography of Lisboa to their advantage. Their white grapes are planted closest to the sea, often giving them a mineral, saline accent. Their reds are planted in warmer sites inland, and it is playing with this proximity to the coast that has allowed them to work with a multitude of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc as well as Touriga's Franca and Nacional, with the latter naturally more at home in Portugal.

Pairing guide
How did we ever get by without Fernao Pires wines in our life? This Portuguese variety may be a relative newcomer to our regular rotation, but it’s right up there with our absolute favourites to pair with a massive range of tasty dishes. Aromatic salads featuring dill, coriander and citrus-marinated vegetables are always a hit with this one, and it’s also excellent with salty, sticky white meats like pulled pork with an orange glaze. Feta and caramelised onion tart, lemon chicken creations, oily fish like grilled mackerel and sardines, and richer fish like salmon and tuna will also work a treat.
